FAQ's

Who do you treat? I work with adults 18 years and over.I have experience treating people from many ethnic backgrounds, religions, and socio-economic groups, including the LGBTQAI+ community.
Do you do family therapy? No, I only treat adult individuals

Can I bring my partner to a session? If you are an individual client of mine, I will not see you as a couple. I believe it is unethical to mix your individual therapy with your couples session because of confidentiality and impartiality. However, I will happily provide a reference if an individual client of mine wants to see a therapist with their partner.
What is your cancellation/late policy? I allow cancellations up to 24 hours before the appointment. If you cancel within that timeframe, I will do my best to find you another time within that same week. If you're unable to attend the make-up session, a full charge for the missed appointment will apply.
Can you prescribe medication? I am not licensed to prescribe medication. However, if a client of mine needs a prescription, and all other techniques have been attempted, I am happy to help them find a medical professional who will meet that specific need.
How does therapy work over Zoom/Skype/Facetime? Sessions via the internet can be very useful for people who find it challenging attending a daytime appointment due to work hours. Perhaps you have small children and can't leave the house? Perhaps you have physical or emotional disabilities and find it hard to move around the city? Typically, I allow for an extra 5-minutes up front to ensure a stable internet connection and a distraction-free environment. Do you take health insurance/Government subsidies? I work with WINZ - see if you qualify here *Insurance companies may have different definitions of counseling. Some only cover psychiatrists and psychologists, and some cover our work - psychotherapy. It's best to contact your insurance company first and be sure as to who they will recognise as your health care provider. * I do not work with ACC claim clients at this time.
